چکیده :

Agaricus campestris L., commonly known as the meadow mushroom, belongs to the Basidiomycota division and the Agaricaceae family. It is primarily found in Europe, where it thrives in fields, lawns, and grassy areas, with the species name "campestris" meaning "of the fields." Historically, the abundance of this saprobic fungus has decreased due to the decline of horse-drawn vehicles and the subsequent reduction in paddocks. As a result, large-scale fruiting events, or "white outs," have become rare. Agaricus campestris is now found in Europe, Asia, northern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and North America, but it is absent east of the Rocky Mountains in the USA. Traditionally, this mushroom has been used to treat diabetes and was once applied to scalds and burns in Scotland. It remains one of the most well-known edible mushrooms. Wild edible mushrooms, such as A. campestris, are valuable sources of essential vitamins. They offer both culinary and medicinal benefits. In light of the limited availability of cultivated wild mushrooms, significant interest has emerged in the study of their nutritional and medicinal properties. Several studies in countries like Iran have focused on identifying and cataloging wild edible mushroom species, further highlighting their importance in both food and traditional medicine.
