Study of Morphological Traits in Different Genotypes of Festuca ovina

چکیده :

This study investigates the morphological traits and seed yield of various Festuca ovina genotypes. Conducted from 2021 to 2023 at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, University of Tehran, the research utilized a completely randomized block design with nine genotypes ( KLEVEN-BATHÖGEN GB0205, ABURAYHAN, UTSJOKI AK0103, ELVERUMSENGENE 0105, HELVETE 0301, VUOLLERIM ME0201, HÄLLSJÖN, HOKKASEN 0205 and NÖMME IB0101) and three replications. Key traits evaluated included days to anthesis, days to pollination, number of spikes, spike length, stem height, and seed yield. Significant differences were observed among genotypes for all traits, highlighting the importance of genetic diversity in breeding programs. In this study, genotype 4 exhibited the highest seed yield (35 grams), attributed to optimal morphological characteristics and favorable growing conditions. The findings suggest that selecting genotypes with superior seed yield and desirable traits can enhance forage production and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. This research provides valuable insights for improving Festuca ovina through targeted breeding strategies aimed at enhancing adaptability and productivity in diverse environments.
