A Review: Application Of Soilless Culture Technologies In The Ornamental plants

چکیده :

Soilless culture technologies have emerged as a sustainable and effective approach for the cultivation of ornamental plants, effectively addressing challenges such as soil degradation, water scarcity, and pest management. This review investigates the historical context, contemporary applications, and prospective developments of soilless systems, encompassing hydroponics and solid media techniques, specially in the cut flower. This study highlights the evaluation of several cut flower species, such as Rosa hybrida, Chrysanthemum morifolium, Dianthus caryophyllus, Gerbera jamesonii, Anthurium andraeanum, Tulipa gesneriana and Eustoma grandiflorum under soilless culture systems. A key focus is the critical role of balanced nutrient solutions in optimizing yield and quality. In addition to nutritional factors, environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature, CO2 enrichment, and lighting significantly affect the yield and quality of ornamental plants. The paper concludes that soilless culture technologies significantly enhance the cultivation of ornamental plants by providing optimal growth conditions and efficient nutrient management. According to biblometric studies, both scientifically and economically, soilless cultivation methods for ornamental plants are expanding and growing. This trend is gaining momentum globally, with significant growth anticipated in Iran in the near future.
