چکیده :

The increasing environmental concerns surrounding plastic pollution and fossil fuel dependency have accelerated the adoption of bio-based packaging in the food industry. Derived from renewable resources such as polysaccharides, proteins, and lipids, bio-based packaging offers a sustainable alternative with reduced carbon footprint and enhanced biodegradability. This paper explores the current landscape of bio-based packaging, including its market growth, marketing strategies, consumer adoption, and key challenges. Market analysis indicates rapid expansion, with the global bio-based packaging market projected to surpass $40 billion by 2034. Leading food and beverage companies are investing in bio-based solutions, leveraging green branding, strategic partnerships, and consumer education to drive demand. Despite the promising outlook, economic and infrastructural barriers remain, including high production costs and inadequate composting facilities. Future innovations, such as advanced bio-nanocomposites and circular economy strategies, are expected to enhance the performance, affordability, and scalability of bio-based packaging. This study underscores the need for policy support, technological advancements, and increased consumer awareness to accelerate the transition toward sustainable food packaging solutions.
