A Review on Dermatophytosis, a Zoonotic Diseases

چکیده :

Dermatophytes are a group of keratinophilic fungi responsible for superficial infections of the skin, hair, and nails, collectively known as dermatophytosis. These infections are prevalent worldwide, especially in warm, humid environments, and can lead to significant discomfort and distress for affected individuals. Dermatophyte infections are not limited to humans. Animals, especially pets like cats, dogs, and livestock, are important reservoirs for these fungi. Understanding the role of dermatophytes in animals is crucial for both veterinary care and public health, particularly in zoonotic transmission. The review delves into the biology, pathogenesis and mechanism of Infection, zoonosis infections, role of domestic animals in the epidemiology of dermatophyte infections, transmission of dermatophytes from animals to humans, diagnostic methods, treatment strategies, preventing dermatophyte infections in animals and humans, and emerging challenges and future directions while also providing an overview of the latest research and potential future directions.
