Challenges and Opportunities in the Management, Restoration, and Sustainable Development of Coastal Forest Ecosystems

چکیده :

Coastal forests play a vital role in the ecological, economic, and social sustainability of coastal areas. These ecosystems not only provide resilience against climate change and natural disasters like floods and severe storms but also contribute significantly to biodiversity conservation, local livelihoods, and carbon sequestration. However, threats such as deforestation, pollution, urban expansion, and climate change have led to a significant decline in these ecosystems. This study, using a descriptive-analytical approach and a systematic review of scientific sources, examines the challenges and opportunities for the management, restoration, and sustainable development of coastal forests. The findings indicate that protecting these forests requires adaptive management, restoring degraded areas, promoting alternative livelihoods, and implementing comprehensive policies. Additionally, carbon sequestration through coastal forest restoration can play a key role in mitigating the effects of climate change. Ultimately, adopting science-based and community-centered approaches is essential for the sustainable development of these ecosystems.
